Metsä Training Sessions
In February and March of 2023, the Wessex team and select customers visited Metsä Tissues UK headquarters to learn about the company’s sustainable forestry and manufacturing practices. The company has planted 270 million trees in a decade and uses renewable energy sources, with 98% of the fuels used in Metsä Wood further reducing their carbon footprint. The Metsä Group is also owned by 103,000 Finnish forest owners, who supply wood to the company’s production facilities!
Metsä’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond their operations and into their products. Their eco-friendly paper products, including the Katrin brand, are both biodegradable and widely recyclable.
The visit to Metsä’s headquarters was a valuable opportunity to learn from industry leaders about sustainable practices in the paper industry. Partners NuServe, Regular Cleaning Services, and GSF accompanied Wessex in these training sessions, who are leading the way in sustainable innovations in the Facilities Management industry. It was a great learning experience that left everyone inspired and motivated to continue working towards a more sustainable future for the paper industry.
Maya Petere, MSc – Head of Safety, Quality & Environmental for GSF London and GSF Sandylight said in a statement,
“We’re excited to have such an incredible business partner like METSA, who prioritizes transparency and honesty in their environmental practices. They continually invest in their forests, community, workforce, economy, training, and suppliers to improve their products and support their team.”
If you’re looking for an immersive experience to better understand Metsä’s values and products, the METSA Academy is highly recommended. It’s a fantastic opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about the company, their team, and their future developments.
In addition to learning about Metsä’s sustainable practices and eco-friendly paper products, training sessions with the company also covered a range of other core topics related to their value chain, product information, and supply chain.
The training sessions covered detailed information about the different products offered by Metsä and Katrin, including their various sizes, styles, and uses. The different types of paper products available, from toilet paper and paper towels to napkins and tissue paper, were discussed, as well as the specific features and benefits of each product.
Overall, the training sessions with Metsä were comprehensive and informative, providing Wessex and their partners with a strong understanding of the company’s values, practices, and products. We are excited to continue working with Metsä and promoting sustainability within the paper industry.
“It was great to host Wessex Cleaning and some of their clients at our recent Katrin Academy Training Days. With a “like-minded” audience, we focus on our strong Sustainability ethos, outlining how Metsa Tissue can deliver environmentally sound solutions right from the forest to the end user. Then we look at Katrin product solutions that can help deliver a high-quality washroom experience and still reduce cost in use. We look at how to match products to needs, implement labour-saving solutions, and eliminate problem areas (like blockages). Metsa Tissue is also very pleased to learn from these Training days. By spending time with key people who are dealing with real-life issues every day, it helps us with future innovation and improving our service and offering ongoing. The Katrin Academy is a win/win for everyone.”
