The Take a Tag Initiative at Wessex
We are proud to introduce our “Take a Tag” initiative with the charity ‘Stop Domestic Abuse’ this festive season. With this initiative, we are committed to supporting those who have bravely faced the aftermath of domestic abuse. We believe in the power of community and through this initiative, we aim to bring a touch of joy and hope to survivors.
The joy of unwrapping a gift, especially one chosen with care and compassion, can bring an indescribable sense of warmth and belonging to those who have faced the trauma of domestic abuse. We aim to facilitate these moments of happiness, reminding survivors that they are not forgotten.
How you can get involved:
Our initiative is structured to maximise impact while ensuring ease of participation:
- Tag Selection: Employees, customers, and suppliers can select a tag and purchase gifts suitable for a specific demographic. Email matthew.rogers@wessexcleaning.com indicating the different genders and age ranges you would like to buy for.
- Deadline for Donations: Ideally, all gifts should be donated by the 15th of December. This allows enough time for the presents to be distributed to refuges before Christmas.
- Gift Requirements: Stop Domestic Abuse accepts only new gifts for women, children, andmen of any age. Due to storage constraints during the festive period, they cannot accept second-hand items. Also, items that could be classified as weapons, like Nerf guns, are not accepted.
- No Need for Wrapping: The gifts will be handed out to individuals in a refuge, who will then wrap them themselves to give to their children and family. This approach adds a personal touch, allowing them to be actively involved in the gift-giving process.
By participating in this initiative, you’re not just giving a gift; you’re giving hope and a moment of joy to those most in need during the holiday season. Your donation can significantly impact the lives of those who have endured so much, bringing smiles to faces that have seen too many hardships.
About Stop Domestic Abuse
Stop Domestic Abuse, an inspiring charity established in Hampshire in 1977, has been a beacon of hope for countless individuals affected by domestic abuse. Their commitment is not only to provide sanctuary but also to empower and heal. This year, they’ve supported a staggering 3,361 adults and 1,343 children and young people, marking a 40% increase compared to pre-pandemic years.
Their remarkable journey began with a single refuge known as ‘Betty’s Refuge’, growing into a multifaceted organisation with 19 refuges offering safe havens and a range of services like one-to-one support, group programmes, and specialised children’s services. These efforts help victims rebuild their lives, understand their experiences, and restore their sense of safety and normalcy.
Your donation can make a real difference in the lives of those who have endured so much, bringing smiles to faces that have seen too many hardships.
