Wessex Cleaning Equipment teams up with Regular Cleaning Services to support Grinling Gibbons Primary school
On October 24th, Wessex Cleaning Equipment, Regular Cleaning Services, EBS Pest Control, and FAB Cleaning teamed up to deliver a revitalisation project to an overrun area at the Grinling Gibbons Primary School. The aim was to create an outdoor space for the children where they could take a break, unwind, and learn about the beautiful ever-evolving world of horticulture. Arranged by our partners, Regular Cleaning Services, the project was a huge success thanks to the determination, dedication, and hard work of all involved.
About The
Project
Overgrown, weedy and dated. The school had had ambitions to adapt the area for some time, but due to budget constraints on the national education system, Grinling Gibbons simply didn’t have the budget. When Regular Cleaning heard their story, they responded with the only way they know. ‘How can we help?’.
Regular Cleaning assembled a team of passionate workers through their service partners and raised funds to help bring the school’s dreams to life, and a few weeks later, everyone was onsite and ready to go.
Our priority was ensuring that the area for the children was easy to manage and required as little maintenance and upkeep as possible for the school’s staff. Once the area was clean and weed-free, we got to work on future-proofing the ground for years to come.
Once the weed-proof membrane was laid, the team began work on laying the child-friendly wood chippings! There were also 4x 100L emergency supply bags used to fill in the gaps (very handy).
Wood chippings are fantastic for use in areas with children as they are soft, provide excellent shock absorbance, and are easy to clear up and maintain.
To bring some excitement and colour to the area, the team began planting some all-weather flowers that will bloom at different times throughout the year to provide the children with a varied balance of seasonal colours.
To complete the area and provide a warm and welcoming space for the children, two wooden benches were installed along with some hopping stones for a fun and practical entrance to the seating areas.
And just like that, the day was over, and everyone had accomplished what they set out to do; to provide a warm, welcoming and practical area for children to embrace and learn from throughout the year.
It's Competition Time!
We also hired two Marketing Apprentices for the day. Not only to provide a helping hand, but to document the whole thing and create a video for our social feeds.
